சேலம் பெரியார் பல்கலைக் கழகமும் சேலம் மாவட்டப் பத்திரிகையாளர் மன்றமும் தங்களுக்குள்ளாகச் செய்து கொண்ட புரிந்துணர்வு ஒப்பந்தத்தின் வாயிலாகச் சமூக நோக்குடன் கூடிய பல நல்ல நிகழ்வுகள் அரங்கேறி வருகின்றன.
அதன் ஒரு பகுதியாக வருகிற 13.09.2011 நாளன்று சேலம் மாவட்டம் சங்ககிரி அரசினர் ஆண்கள் மேனிலைப் பள்ளியில் "என் கடமை என் பூமி" என்ற பெயரில் மரம் நாடு விழா இனிது நடக்க வுள்ளது.
சேலம் பெரியார் பல்கலைக் கழகம், சேலம் மாவட்டப் பத்திரிகையாளர் மன்றம் ஆகியவற்றுடன் இந்திய அரசின் நேரு யுவ கேந்திராவின் சேலம் கிளையும் இணைந்து இந்த நிகழ்ச்சிக்கான ஏற்பாடுகளைச் சிறப்பாகச் செய்துள்ளன.

the fact that the journalists have taken pains to put to gether such an effort to make salem green and bring awareness to the young minds in schools is wonderful and welcome. the visit to the sangagiri govt HSS was most gratifying and the discussion with the teachers and the HM was very rewarding and invigorating. the HM was narrating the problems in keeping the children in focus and the efforts put in by them to coopt the parents in the march towards building a better future for the students is inspiring. the out of the way efforts by him and his team of dedicated and enterprising teachers is evident in his declaration of the fact that the school topper was the son of the employee of the school, watchman to be precise. there was pride and achievement in their mission. hats off to the team of govt school teachers especially the sangagiri govt HSS where SDPC and JMC team implemented the green salem project.
